Member Spotlight: Dr. Bhagavatula Moorthy, GC-CPEH Internal Advisory Board Member, Baylor–Rice Superfund Center Director, Professor of Pediatrics
Baylor College of Medicine recently received nearly $15 million from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) to renew the Baylor–Rice Superfund Research Program. The five-year grant will allow researchers to study how maternal exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from Superfund sites contributes to preterm births and neonatal chronic lung disease.
The program integrates environmental science, biomedical research, remediation strategies, and community engagement to reduce health burdens in the greater Houston area and beyond.
Congratulations to Dr. Bhagavatula Moorthy, GC-CPEH Internal Advisory Board Member, Baylor–Rice Superfund Center Director, and Professor of Pediatrics, who serves as principal investigator and program director of the Baylor–Rice SRP Center.
