Dr. Vlad Sandulache, associate professor of otolaryngology, will lead a four-year, $4.5 million study conducted by investigators across eight medical centers in the Veterans Health Administration, designed to develop a precision oncology algorithm for patients with oropharyngeal cancer. The team of oncologists, engineers, pathologists and radiologists will use artificial intelligence to build pathomic and radiomic predictive models of chemoradiation response in patients to tailor treatment intensity to disease aggressiveness. The study is part of the Precision Oncology Actively Managed Portfolio in the VA Office for Research and Development.
