Shelly Buffington Named 2026 TAMEST Protégé

Shelly Buffington, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Center for Precision Environmental Health and the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine, has been selected as a 2026 Protégé by the Texas Academy of Medicine, Engineering, Science and Technology (TAMEST).

Dr. Buffington is also a participant in the Gulf Coast Center for Precision Environmental Health (GC-CPEH) Leadership Development Program, which supports emerging investigators in advancing interdisciplinary research and scientific leadership. Her selection as a TAMEST Protégé reflects both her scientific contributions and her growing leadership in environmental health and neuroscience.

Dr. Buffington was nominated by Cheryl Lyn Walker, Ph.D. (NAM), Director of the Gulf Coast Center for Precision Environmental Health. The TAMEST Protégé Program recognizes outstanding early-career faculty nominated by members of the National Academies.
